Sonya Burrows – ‘ Do Plants Wear Coats? ‘
October meeting – There was a programme change for the October meeting, Jim Buttress’s wife was ill and he could not leave her but fortunately Jenny was able to book Matthew Tanton Brown. Matt is one of these speakers who can talk for an hour or so with a few plants or flowers as ‘props’ . His talk was entitled ‘Winter Interest Plants’ and he had brought along an array of trees, shrubs and flowers with a striking display of colours, in particular leaves and berries. Read More...

‘What a difference a day makes’ goes the old song and indeed this was the case for our August visit, Wednesday had been one long downpour but, après le deluge, we arrive at Berghersh Place on Thursday evening to be greeted by owner Wendy Parkes and warm sunshine. Read More...

June visit - Miracle-Gro Company, Levington - In our sixteen plus years since the club’s formation we have been very fortunate with weather for our evening visits, only one complete wash out. So true to form a pleasant June evening welcomed 60 club members to the old Levington Research station, since 1977 the home of the Scott’s Miracle-Gro Coy, now Everris and part of ICL.
We were met by Alison who gave us an excellent conducted tour of the 20 acres site. Read More...

Our first summer evening visit on a warm afternoon was to ActivGardens’ Peoples’ Community Garden, at Chantry Park , Walled Garden.They are part of the ActivLives charity which also includes the Peoples’ Community Garden at Maidenhall Allotments. ActivGardens offers learning programmes in the historic walled garden where they run a plant nursery with flower and veg borders catering for disabled and elderly and helping those with dementia. They launched their new garden for older people in May.
