On the Buses

ON THE BUSES

I'm writing this on March 8th, a month before the new timetables come into use on April 4th, so there still might be changes. However, this is how I see things at this time. As usual, the timetables are not easy to follow, but I can't think of an easier way of doing them. We have three operators: Beestons, Carters Coaches and Ipswich Buses (for schools).

Routes 172/3/4/8 & 9 are still with us, but times, and sometimes even days, have changed.  Take a good look at 'Notes' above the route column, and 'Code' below the route column for any trip you're planning, as some 178 & 179 run only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at midday.  Check times in the SH column for when schools are on holiday.

I notice that the Woodbridge-Kirton-Trimley-Felixstowe page also includes the 178 15.20pm from Ipswich.

Your journeys may be a little bit longer, as some buses have been cut and routes lengthened.  Take your timetables with you, and don't put them away or lose them.  All of this won't stop me one bit, so hope to see you on the buses soon.

There are also plans for the Felixstowe Area Community Transport Service (FACTS) to run the 'Felixstowe Feeder'. An accessible vehicle with low steps, hand rails and a lift for wheel chair access. Bookings are arranged a week in advance, and can be made between one pm and four pm Mondays to Fridays, on a first come first served basis. Fares will be advised when booking. Concessionary passes will be valid on all journeys in accordance with standard terms of validity.

The service is available from 10am – 3pm Mondays to Saturdays, pickups from door to door if necessary, and runs through Kirton, The Trimleys, Walton, Felixstowe Great Eastern Square, the Cinema, Leisure Centre and Felixstowe Ferry.  Call FACTS on 01394 270339.
