Music in Felixstowe

Hello and Merry Christmas to you,

We had a lovely Christmas concert earlier on in the month with the Sudbourne Ensemble, led by Jim Macleod in fine fettle, and an enthusiastic choir of local children singing in the second half. The annual collection at the concert raised £116.50p for SightSavers. Chris Poffley, who played for us earlier in November had just completed a sponsored bike ride from John o’ Groats to Land’s End for it and I thought it appropriate to support that charity this year.

We have two lovely concerts coming up:
Firstly the Classic Strings led by my brother, Nick Ward, are playing at St John’s Church on January 8th at 3.00pm. There will be wine, coffee, etc at this concert and pre-booked tickets at £10 are available from Magpie Books or from me (01394 670633) Tickets on the door are £12, children free. The programme includes the Tchaikovsky Serenade, Mozart Divertimento K 136 and the Dag Wiren Serenade, in which you will recognise the theme from “Dr Finlay’s Casebook”.

By the way, Magpie Books is closing down in January (up for sale if you fancy owning it!)
Our thanks for all their help and support.

On January 22nd at 3.00pm/5.30pm at St Nicholas Church here at the Ferry, it is my great pleasure to be joined by Roland Roberts, violin and David Ogden, viola in a programme -“Mozart by Candlelight”. This includes the Mozart oboe quartet when we will be joined by Rob Rogers, who is well known to many of you as an excellent musician. Such is the high demand for tickets that we are putting on a second performance at 5.30. Please book on 01394 670633 for either performance -seating is very limited at the 3.00 concert .
We still have plenty of our compilation CD’s left – I have found that they make useful presents!!!

GOOD NEWS – an anonymous donor has paid for the piano wheels and these are now installed.
Many thanks to her and others who have made contributions in the past.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Hattie
