The Kirton & Falkenham Emergency Plan

Dear Parishioner

In 2018 the Kirton & Falkenham Parishes Emergency plan was updated. In the process many of you registered that you may, under difficult circumstances, be willing and able to offer some assistance. A few also registered, that they may be vulnerable and possibly in need of some assistance in emergencies.

With the occurrences of “The Beast from the East” winter and the current pandemic, the plan has been found to be ineffective and, with the General Data Protection Regulations being in force, it has been unsustainable in its current form. Because of the regulations the lists of people offering assistance and of those possibly needing help have been withdrawn.

KAFPA – Back in 2 next year

Regrettably KAFPA has decided to postpone our Autumn return to the stage until Spring 2022. This difficult decision was made due to concerns about the developing Covid situation risks and how this could impact on our Community and Friends.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding.
We are looking forwards to welcoming everyone – old audiences and new – back to the theatre in Spring 2022.
All the Best

Ride & Stride 2021

SUFFOLK HISTORIC CHURCHES TRUST - RIDE & STRIDE 2021

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s Ride & Stride, including all who sat in the church recording the participants and the very generous sponsors who sponsored both Susan Harvey and myself.

The total raised was £508, which considering there was no Brownies Lunch again this year, was a very good result.

Falkenham Church

Falkenham Church
Under current COVID restrictions, we are currently having two services per month, at 10am, usually 1st and 3rd week in each month. A booking system is not necessary. Everyone is welcome to join us. For further details please contact me.

I am currently trying to resurrect our Church cleaning rota. I would welcome any volunteers to join us. This is not onerous, and would probably require only cleaning two/three times per annum.

Afghanistan

I'm sure you have all seen the horrific scenes coming from Afghanistan, and the terrible tragedy that is unfolding.
Suffolk County Council have already helped a small number of families and there is the anticipation that help will be needed by more displaced families.
At this current time, they have no need for any donations, but this may well change over coming weeks. Therefore, if this requirement changes, i am hoping to organise a collection of items that could be used or are needed - this may be anything from food to toys, clothing or bedding. Some families arrive with literally all they are wearing so will be in need of any items to help them start their new life here.
I have registered my details with SCC and will keep you posted as to how things stand, but I know we are a generous, caring community and therefore hope that you may be able to offer any unused or unwanted items, should the call arise.
I cannot begin to comprehend what these poor people have been through, or those that are left behind face, but hope that in some small way we could help make those who have arrived here feel welcome and part of our community.
Thank you very much in anticipation.

We hope to restart meetings in September but have a drop in session in the Church Hall on Saturday 14th August 2.30pm, to 4.30pm for tea and cake. If you are an existing member please try to come along to meet old friends and tell us how you would like to see the club operate "post" Covid, or if you are interested in joining please come to meet the committee and find out what we are all about. If out around the village why not combine it with a visit to the WI at the same time. More cake is never a bad thing! Read More...
