Music in Felixstowe February Newsletter

Hello –  we are just about to send out our Spring brochure. If you would like a copy and don’t normally receive them by post perhaps you could email your address. There’s a copy of the brochure available here.

You will see that the next concert is the Ward Quartet on February 6
th. Caroline Ball, who was originally booked for this concert, is ill, and Peter Pople of the Alberni Quartet has agreed to step in at the last moment. He is a colleague of my brother, Nick Ward, through the City of London Sinfonia and knows the quartet repertoire better than I know the back of my hand! They are both very inspiring musicians to work with.

We will have great pleasure in playing for the Charity Gala on February 26
th, in aid of St Elizabeth’s Hospice.
It will be a very special occasion in memory of a dear lady, Geraldine Boast, who spent her last days in the hospice, and whose piano has been lent to “Music in Felixstowe” by her husband, Graham.
I am delighted that Clorinda Smith, who was her great friend
and piano teacher, will be playing the piano for a part of the concert and reciting some of Edith Sitwell’s words from “Façade”. Those of you who have been coming to these concerts from the beginning will remember Clorinda as my partner in crime in the first concerts here at the Ferry.

Tickets for all our concerts can be purchased in advance or paid for on the door.

Now, I would like to ask if there are any of you who could be added on our list of helpers. As you can see, we play in most of the concerts and really need help on the day with the door, refreshments, or organising the catering for the artistes when there are several players  - this would be paid for by us – it would be one less thing to worry about before performing! Just ring 01394 670633 or email
if you could help.
