Following the council elections in May, when only 7 Parishioners put themselves forward for the eleven vacancies, the Parish Council is required to fill the vacancies by co-option. It has succeeded in filling 3 of the vacancies, but one still remains for Kirton.

The shop, operated by Damien Payton, is well stocked carrying fruit and fresh local vegetables, dairy products, ham, bacon, sausages and eggs all from local producers. Tree Wardens are volunteers who keep an eye open for tree problems, instigate tree and hedge planting and may coordinate a veteran tree or hedgerow survey in their Parish.
