Trimley railway station

The Network Rail scheme to increase capacity on the Felixstowe branch line has recently been completed. Work commenced in April, 2018 and, during this time, the line was closed on Saturday evenings and all day Sunday most weekends. Part of the project included a 1.25 km stretch of double track from Trimley station to Grimston Lane and a new pedestrian bridge at Gun Lane - officially opened early last month. The trains are now back to normal and the weekend services have been fully restored.

The next big event is the arrival of brand new class 755 bi-mode trains. Although their introduction appears to be taking longer than was planned by Greater Anglia, five are currently operating in Norfolk. Hopefully, in the not too distance future, we shall see them in Suffolk.

Roadworks 7-Hills

SCC will be carrying out road resurfacing on the A12 Seven Hills roundabout, North Bound carriageway and the Northern part of the roundabout.  The work is necessary to arrest further deterioration and improve the road surface. The works are currently programmed to be carried out on 31 October & 1 November 2011, (phase 1) and 2 & 3 November 2011 (phase 2).  The affected roads will be temporarily closed overnight between 20:00 – 06:00 with signed diversion routes in place.  Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times, however.

ON THE BUSES

I'm writing this on March 8th, a month before the new timetables come into use on April 4th, so there still might be changes. However, this is how I see things at this time. As usual, the timetables are not easy to follow, but I can't think of an easier way of doing them. We have three operators: Beestons, Carters Coaches and Ipswich Buses (for schools).

On the Buses – All change

Far East Travel buses will take the place of Country Travel from 6 July 2009 and the change of route from Trimley Road to Falkenham Road and Back Road will start from Tuesday 1st September, although the Ipswich school bus at 8:01am will continue along Trimley Road as there are concerns about double-deckers getting through some of Kirton’s narrow roads and awkward corners.
