Visit to Newbourne Springs – Saturday 25th April – 9.30 start

This year the steering group would like to invite you on a spring walk from Kirton Church to Newbourne Springs. Having staggered to Newbourne there will be a short conducted tour around the Springs followed by a well deserved lunch in The Fox. Transport home can be arranged! These arrangements are totally flexible and if you would rather drive to the Springs and have a walk around there (10.30 ‘ish), or just meet us at The Fox, you will be very welcome.

Kirton Churchyard Project (Woodland Management)

Members of the steering group with technical advice from Green Light Trust and officers of SCC's Coasts and Heaths Department will be surveying trees and shrubs within the Kirton Church boundary. This information will form a 2 year management plan to be carried out by the woodland group, the local community and children.

AGM – Friday 19
th June 7.30 PM, Venue TBA

Please come along and support the group! Refreshments will be available and a speaker is currently being organised. You can rest assured the business part of the meeting will be kept as short as possible. There will also be the opportunity to voice your opinions/offer advice regarding the Kirton Churchyard project.

Search for Land

Our search for suitable land, that will eventually become our very own community woodland, is ongoing. Various landowners have been approached and while they are sympathetic to our plight, the current economic situation means they are unable to help us at this moment in time. We would therefore be grateful if you could all put your thinking caps on and if there is anyone who knows of somewhere that could potentially be a good woodland site, or knows someone who could be worth talking to, then please contact Stephen (448780) or Alison (448889). It is important to keep our search in the public eye.

Green Light Trust - Annual Networking Day – Saturday 9
th May
10.00am – 4.00pm

If you have not visited Lawshall you can enjoy the eco-friendly converted Old Foundry and take a stroll around the beautiful woodlands, now 15 years old, which will give you an opportunity to see what we are all striving for.
If you wish to speak to a member of the steering group concerning any of the subjects in this newsletter, please contact Stephen (448780) or Alison (448889).
