PARISH COUNCIL: The March meeting was attended by 8 Parish Councillors, the County Councillor, 2 District Councillors, and 2 parishioners. Mrs P O’Brien (CC) gave an update on the revised programme for the Local Government Review (LGF); notwithstanding County elections will still take place along with European elections. She reported on her attendance on a question and answer seminar related to children in care, on the allocation of £200k for transport schemes in the SCDC area, and how it would be a distributed. Her Locality Grant to Parishes had been allocated and spent. Mr G Harding (DC) offered to attend a Planning Enquiry on behalf of the Parish. Pc M Crisp reported on the only crime in the past month; a house break-in. Councillor Mrs Wardner (PTLO) explained that she now had new bus timetables, though they were difficult to understand; Councillor Jacobs offered to prepare simplified local tables to display. She had investigated ways of repairing the glass in the bus shelter, wrecked by vandals; Councillor Last agreed to arrange for repairs to be undertaken. Mrs Wardner had continued to pursue with SCC buses being routed along Falkenham Road. Mr G Walker of Falkenham Road, was unanimously co-opted to fill the remaining Casual Council vacancy. The Clerk and Councillor Jacobs reported on the meeting they had had with Heritage Housing on the attempt to establish a footpath between Weir Place and Burnt House Lane. Problems with access and ownership need to be resolved, and these are currently with Heritage Housing. Arrangements for the Annual Meeting on 20th April were agreed and Felixstowe Port will be invited to give a talk. The Clerk gave a report on the recent Clerk’s Networking Day which covered new legislation affecting Councils, and a discussion on how parishes might assist in the economic downturn. A review of Council Internal procedures prior to audit, and the Risk Assessment was approved. Councillors will be attending a conference on Vibrant Rural Communities, liaison meetings relating to the LGR and a Shoreline Management Conference. The Council agreed to renew insurance on the Pavilion for a 3 year period. The Clerk would ask SCDC to supply gloves and sacks to enable the Council to support SCDC Litter Spring Clean. No planning applications had been considered in the past month. Councillor Beer reported that quotes continue to be sought for repairing the play area surfacing; there has been no progress on the cycle jump project. Following the Annual Meeting in April, the Annual Parish Council Meeting will take place on 11th May.      Colin Shaw, Clerk
